The failure point on almost every rusted railing you see in Pune is the same: the weld, the cut end, or the fixing into the wall. Paint over mild steel is thinnest exactly at those points. Hot-dip galvanising puts zinc into the cut edges and around the weld, and stainless fixings mean the fastener does not become the corrosion bridge. This is why we will not quote painted mild steel for exterior work even when asked to.
